#1A – "The Red Head"

This is a slide we have of a painting done in 1967 on Dad’s first trip to the Florida Keys where he stayed with Bud Zender.  Bud wouldn’t take any money from Dad for staying at his little efficiency place, so Dad gave him this painting.  Bud passed away in 2001 and he was a good friend of Stew Standish in Chicago when we lived there.  Bud’s daughter was nice-enough to contact us with this piece.  What a find.  I wouldn’t take anything less than $4,500 for it (or more) because it’s a relic in every way, shape and form.  It’s a fine painting, too.  Just look at those palm trees and all the detail in this work!  Thanks so much for sending this in.

This is Suzanne and Dale in Semmes, AL at the new Wells Studio Gallery (of sorts).  We had a great visit and looked at all the Coral Shores Yearbooks, talked about old friends and familiar places and names and we’re hoping we can get together before they leave the area in May.

Dale and Suzanne, it was GREAT meeting you.  We’re buds now!

SEE YOU ALL SOON!!! Thanks so much for bringing “The Redhead” all the way from Utah so I could see her in person.  Love, Wendy Wells Sage, Semmes, AL
